Why Medical Aid to Ukraine Can’t Wait
It has been said that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and good women to do nothing. And the invasion of Ukraine is as close to being the battle between good and evil as it can get. Cities pulverized by bombs, artillery shells, phosphorus fires and thermobaric blasts. Hundreds of thousands have been maimed, murdered, raped or kidnapped. The suffering has been staggering. The Ukrainians need help.
As a former refugee, I have a special connection to war victims. Among the medical supplies we send, a chest seal for someone suffocating with gaping holes in their chest, burn gauzes for a apartment dweller who was bombed out of their sleep, a bone drill for a mine victim, catheters of all kinds to keep fluids flowing in battered bodies, laparoscopic and other surgical instruments are never enough, colostomy bags for those who can't get up to relieve themselves... Everything we send is badly needed and much appreciated. Almost expired supplies, expired but usable or reusable items, surplus items, they all are making a difference in someone's going back to their family or not.
As a naturalized citizen, I am inspired to do my part, however small, in continuing the tradition of nation building and defending freedom that America has long been a champion of. Along with countless American volunteers helping Ukraine and international freedom defenders, we want to be the force of good that defends against tyrannies and blocks the evil force from triumphing in Ukraine.
I feel grateful to be in a position to help and with the collaboration of The Traveling Colonels whose boots deliver the supplies in Ukraine and individuals such as Hugh Margesson who has been generously providing medical aid, it's my calling as a human being and as an American citizen to continue my own medical convoy to Ukraine for as long as they need.
